In a powerful declaration of India’s growing ambitions in space exploration, ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan has announced that the country is set to establish its very own space station by 2035. Furthermore, India aims to execute a fully indigenous manned lunar mission—landing an astronaut on the moon and safely bringing them back—by the year 2040.

Dr. Narayanan shared this transformative vision during the convocation ceremony at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) in Kurnool on Sunday. Addressing graduating students, he underscored India’s exponential growth in science and technology, stating that ISRO is pushing the boundaries of space research and aiming for missions that rival global benchmarks.
He cited India’s recent successes like the Aditya-L1 solar mission and its progress in autonomous space docking technology as stepping stones toward more ambitious objectives. Additionally, Dr. Narayanan revealed that a dedicated mission to Venus is on the horizon, expanding India’s interplanetary research efforts.
“Our journey is fueled by innovation and the confidence in our scientists and engineers. India is no longer just a participant in global space advancements—we are fast becoming a leader,” he said.
With these announcements, ISRO reaffirms its place in the global space race and sends a strong message that India is ready to take giant leaps, not just for itself but for humanity.
