Fake Castrol Oil Factory Busted In Delhi 239 Litres Seized In Major Crackdown

The Delhi Police have dismantled a large counterfeit engine oil manufacturing unit operating in Alipur, uncovering thousands of litres’ worth of illegally packaged Castrol-branded products intended for sale across Delhi-NCR. The raid was conducted by the District Investigation Unit (DIU) on December 9 following specific intelligence inputs, with officials from Castrol Limited present to verify the seized items.

Huge Haul of Counterfeit Products


During the raid, officers recovered:

  • 239 litres of fake Castrol oil

  • 304 empty bottles bearing Castrol labels

  • 3,000 barcode stickers

  • 11,200 MRP stickers

  • 700+ bottle caps

  • Machinery and tools used for manufacturing sealing machine, funnels, measurement tools, oil pump, gauge, iron and orange dye


Officials said the seized products included thousands of packaging components and several finished bottles such as:

  • 100 bottles of Castrol Activ 20W-40 (1L)

  • 99 bottles of Castrol RX Super 15W-40 (1L)

  • Four buckets of Castrol CRB Plus 20W-40 (10L)

  • 10,060 stickers of Castrol Activ 20W-40

  • 1,160 stickers of Castrol GTX 20W-50


Illegal Operation Active for 6 Months


Investigators revealed that the fake lubricants unit had been operational for the past six months, supplying counterfeit engine oil to local markets and distributors. Two individuals Ajay Bhardwaj (27) and Sachin Sharma (22), both from Sonepat have been identified as the primary operators of the racket.


Network Under Scanner


Police said further investigation is underway to trace the larger supply chain and distributors linked to this counterfeit network. Officials noted that such fake lubricants can cause severe damage to vehicles, and the crackdown is aimed at dismantling the growing counterfeit oil trade in the region.
