Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge turned 83 on Monday, receiving an outpouring of birthday wishes from leaders across the political divide, all recognizing his enduring contributions to India’s democratic and social fabric.
The celebrations took place at the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) office in Parliament House, where Kharge was joined by key party leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The gathering reflected not just a celebration of age, but of a political journey marked by resilience, leadership, and a deep commitment to justice.

“Your leadership and dedication to the people of India inspire us all,” said Rahul Gandhi on X, extending heartfelt birthday greetings to the Congress veteran. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his wishes, saying, “Praying for his long and healthy life.”
Kharge, who started his journey from humble beginnings, rose through the ranks with grit and loyalty to Congress values. K.C. Venugopal, Congress general secretary, hailed his rise as a symbol of perseverance. “His commitment to the Constitution and democratic values continues to guide our party,” he said.
Leaders from several states joined in the chorus of praise. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar applauded Kharge’s leadership and tireless service to the nation. Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin commended him for fortifying the INDIA bloc, while Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar acknowledged his dignified role in Indian politics.
Congress’s official handle summed it up best: “A relentless champion of justice and equality, Kharge leads the party with courage, wisdom, and political acumen.”
