Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two notable personalities — revered Tamil scholar Perungkavikko V.M. Sethuraman and leading industrialist Janab Haji Malak Mohamed Hashim Sahib.

On Saturday, Stalin visited Sethuraman’s residence in Chennai to offer his final respects. He was joined by Health Minister Ma. Subramanian and several DMK legislators during the condolence visit.
In a heartfelt message, Stalin praised V.M. Sethuraman for his unwavering devotion to the Tamil language and literature. He highlighted Sethuraman’s notable contributions through his writings in Murasoli and honored his legacy, saying, “His scholarly impact will live on as long as the Tamil language endures.”
Sethuraman was the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Kalaimamani and Thiruvalluvar awards conferred by the Tamil Nadu government, recognizing his profound influence on Tamil cultural heritage.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to Mohamed Hashim, the chairman of K.H. Group and a key patron of the South India Tanners and Dealers Association. Remembering him as a visionary industrialist and generous patron of trade, Stalin extended condolences to his family and associates, acknowledging Hashim’s longstanding role in Tamil Nadu's economic landscape.
Both figures, respected in their respective fields, leave behind legacies that continue to inspire generations.
